Dear parents,
Our House Leaders are a big part of our school. They work hard in their role. The tasks include helping clean up after discos, supporting at junior school events, duties around the school, modelling our school values, supporting the school with charity collections and many many other things. We are pleased to announce the following children have been selected, following a process involving their year 5 teachers, the year 6 teachers and Senior leadership.

Congratulations to you all, I know you will support the school brilliantly and be great examples of all of our school values.
Possible Industrial Action
The NZEI teachers union has balloted its members on possible strike action following the rejection of the latest offer of a settlement for the Teacher’s Collective Agreement, involving the funding of schools, staffing levels for schools, as well as teachers pay and conditions. We expect to hear the result of this ballot in the next day or so.
As soon as we have the result we will work with the Board on how the action will affect our ability to be open on the strike date. This date is provisionally set as Thursday 16th March, but this would also be confirmed when the result of the ballot is released. I will keep you updated on this.
School Protocols
This week I sent a message home about ensuring our health and safety protocols for adults on site are adhered to. Thank you for your support in helping to keep our site safe and allowing us to ensure your children are safe.
Please remember:
- To drop any items to the office like swimming togs or a lunch box.
- To call into the office if you are picking your child up for an appointment or to leave early. The office staff will then send for the child to meet you up at the office, this ensures we know who is on site at any time.
School Library
Our library has reopened following the renovations and purchase of new furniture. The space looks amazing and I know the children are really enjoying having the space back. Even in an age dominated by electronic devices, the importance and enjoyment of reading and being immersed in a good book is still something we strongly believe in. Our librarian, Gabriella Aranky, has worked hard to ensure we could open up as soon as we could. Thank you Gabriella for all your hard work. The funding for this came from our Read-a-thon and Calendar Art Fundraiser last year, so a big thank you to all who contributed to this newly renovated space.
