Principal’s News

Our PRIDE values help us support our school vision: “Our children grow to be capable, balanced and confident learners who embrace new experiences and opportunities”

Children who have been awarded PRIDE certificates this week are: Victoria Highet, Chelsea Li, Patrick Hooper, Cathay Tian, Nicole Yan, Matthew Wang.

Board Elections

Our board elections have concluded and the results of the voting have been posted. Our new Board is Greg Duff, Tilly Harvey and Reece Leggett, who were successfully elected for a 3 year term. Samantha Ebel-Brown, Kathy Frame and Paul Steele have been elected for the 18 month timeframe. I thoroughly look forward to working with this dedicated group of our community to continue to focus on getting the best outcomes for our children. I would like to thank all the nominees and those who took the opportunity to vote. Zara Fletcher was elected as the staff representative on the Board.

Parking and Drop off

As mentioned in the last board meeting, our local police officer has been at the school for both drop off and pick up times. He issued some tickets to those whose driving behaviour is putting your child at risk. I am continuing to encourage the attendance of the police, either in uniform or in plain clothes to try to make the school and the surrounding roads safe for your children.

Out of Zone Enrolments

The Board has advised there will be limited places available in the new entrant level (15) and 5 at other year levels for 2023 enrolments for out of zone children to join our school. For more information please look on the school website.

Applications must be received by the school no later than 12.00pm on September 28th 2022, for enrolments in 2023. If a ballot is required (i.e. if the number of applications exceeds the number of vacancies available) this will take place on October 19th 2022.

Public Holiday

The Government has announced that Monday 26th September 2022 will be a public holiday to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II and her dedication to the people of the Commonwealth. Therefore school will be closed on Monday 26th September.

Have a lovely weekend.

Community Connections

Art Exhibition

What a wonderful turn out of parents to view the lovely artwork that your children have worked so hard on. The students were so excited to see their art on display. Well done to the students of Greenhithe School, you’ve made us proud!

Thank you to our Community

Thank you to the whanau who entered Greenhithe School into a promotion to win a 1000l water tank from Tanksalot. We WON! This water tank will be fitted to one of our blocks once it has been renovated. We now have 3 water tanks to help water our gardens and trees. Very grateful to the whanau who thought of nominating us!

SPORTS ASSEMBLY

On Tuesday 27th September at 9-15am we are holding a sports assembly for Years 3-6, to acknowledge our children who have participated and done well in sport this year. We will be handing out certificates for top three placegetters in our school cross country and children who placed in the top six at the Interschool and Northern Bays events. We will also be giving out certificates to our Northern Bays Football Year 4 team, and acknowledging our teams who have represented our school in Hockey and Netball. Finally we have sport trophies to present to our Year 6 swimming champions, cross country champions, and hockey and netball players of the year. All parents are welcome to attend.

SPLASH POLO AND TOUCH

Registrations are still open for Touch and Splash polo. You will need to register using the new platform Kindo. You will need to create an account if you haven’t already done so. You will find everything you need to know about the sport plus you will notice when you sign up you will need to agree to our schools new Code of Conduct. We have put this in place for the children, parents and coaches/managers.

Here is a brief outline of what two sports we offer in Term 4.

TOUCH Touch is played on a Wednesday afternoon at Moire Park Massey and is for all age groups and genders. You will need to purchase a school sports top if your child doesn’t already own one. All other relevant information is on Kindo.

Splash Polo is played at the Millennium on Sunday afternoons and is for Years 3-6 children. Your child MUST BE A VERY COMPETENT swimmer to register. As this is a sport that is played all year round, returning players will be given priority for the teams. If you register and we do not have space in existing teams or don’t have enough new players to make a team, you will be given a full refund. All other irrelevant information is on Kindo

Here is the link which will take you straight to the Sport registrations on KINDO

NORTHERN BAYS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Last week we took four teams to represent our school in the annual Northern Bays Football tournament at Rosedale Park. Congratulations to all of the children who represented our school. There were tough games but our teams played with a lot of heart and great sportsmanship.

Congratulations to our Year 4 team coached by Gar. They had a tough final against Kristin and managed to get the one and only winning goal by Ilhan just before full time. Also well done to our Year 6 boys team who placed an incredible third and to our Year 5 and 6 girls team who had some outstanding results. Special mention to our Year 3 boys team who only lost one game and were unlucky not to get through to the finals because of goals scored for and against. Thanks to all of the parents who transported and supported the children on the day and an extra big thanks to Gar Chanakha, Mr Grady, Dean Dodds and Marty Guest for giving up your time to coach the teams.

Our Year 4 team with coach Gar and also with the Kristin team.
