Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Congratulations to the children who have been awarded a PRIDE certificate in the last week. It is always lovely to see our school values being used around our school. In the last little while, these children have been awarded a certificate: Bailey Moore, Alastair Ramsey, Lukah Jackson Lopesi, Luka Schulz and Rewan Tonkin.
Summer Festival
We are all excited for the Summer Festival. The children are starting to prepare their items and the Kapa Haka group are also busy honing their performance. The PTA have been working tirelessly to ensure lots of great things for everyone to do! In order to ensure the event is successful and everything can run we need volunteers to man some of the stalls, just for a short time. Please contact the PTA ([email protected]) to support this amazing event with a little of your time!
2025
The board and your Presiding Member, Samantha Ebel-Brown, are working hard to find the next lucky person to lead the school as Principal. It does take time to ensure the process finds the right person to fit the school and community. While the process runs its course in 2025 we are very lucky to have our two highly experienced and talented Deputy Principals to lead the school. Kelly Knowles will be Acting Principal until the 25th March, then Michelle Butler will take the reins until Mid May, unless a Principal is appointed earlier. I know the school is in good hands during this transition period.
Onepoto Kapa Haka festival
Wow! Our amazing group were fantastic at the festival, one of the organisers commented that our group were comfortably the best she had seen. We even had a haka at the end performed to us by a mixture of our ex-pupils and other schools. Thank you to the parents who came and supported the group. Whaea Vikki, as always, led our group with such passion and energy. I can’t wait to see another spine tingling performance at the Summer Festival!
Upcoming Building Work
In the next week you will see the start of the replacement of our Isobel Rd and Greenhithe Rd fencing. Secure, temporary fencing will go up to ensure the safety of the children. This work will hopefully be completed by the end of February.
We also have some work on classrooms in our main block happening over the summer break. This is to add new wall coverings and carpets. This will mean there are tradesmen on site during the summer. If your child comes on site during the break, please ask them to stay away from areas where they see people working.

Principal For The Day- Kennedy McGhie
Kennedy was our principal for the day following a PTA auction…Here is her principal diary!
Firstly we greeted the children at the gate, it was raining! But we still had to welcome all our children. I made the decision to allow the Road Patrollers to have hot chocolate, because they got wet during their duty. My next job was to review the PTA flyer for the Summer Festival, it was really good, but we made a suggestion about the Lolly Leis, because all the kids like them. I sent an email back to the PTA to tell them. Next I wrote some PRIDE certificates with
Mrs. Knowles. I then visited some year 3 classrooms to see what they were doing, they were doing some good things. I did morning tea duty and handed out certificates at the Junior assembly. After that I had a meeting at Albany Junior High School. I met with the Principal,Mrs. Sheppard and the leadership team. I liked that Mrs. Sheppard was dressed as Wonder Woman when we arrived!

Then we had lunch at Major Tom’s (my Dad came with us!). When we got back I had to do the Health and Safety walk with Mrs. Butler, to see if anything needed fixing in our school. We finished the day by going to the gate at the end of the day.
My favourite thing was hanging out with Mr. Grady and getting to know him better!

Have a lovely weekend!

The Summer Festival on Friday 13th December is fast approaching. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate the end of the school year and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun activities, games, and performances.
However, we urgently need volunteers to help make this event a success. Without your support, we will not be able to do all the fun things we have planned!
We only require volunteers for 30-minute slots only, and roles include:
- Pre-event set up during the day on Friday 13th December – set up of tables, gazebos, directing external stands etc.
- Working on a stand e.g. raffle, bake sale, lolly leis, selling tickets, selling drinks, VR room, bouncy castles etc.
- Helping to clean up after the event, no later than 7:30pm
Your involvement is crucial, and we cannot proceed with the Summer Festival without sufficient volunteers. You will not miss the main musical performance, as all the activities pause between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.
If you are available to volunteer, please sign up by Monday 2nd December either on Kindo under Summer Festival – Volunteers, or by emailing us at [email protected]. .
The festival is a highlight of the school year for our children, and it relies on the collective effort of our community. Thank you in advance for your support and dedication to our school.
We meet monthly on a weekday evening to discuss all things related to school life, provide a forum for community feedback, and fundraise for additional school resources. Our goal is to continue to grow and nurture the great positive community we have within the school and wider Greenhithe. Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to come and participate. All of these wonderful initiatives need community support, so please reach out via our email ([email protected]) to find out more!
Thanks Sjaan and the Greenhithe PTA
