Principal’s News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Just a short extra newsletter this week as we have had a couple of great events this week!

Art Exhibition

I have been completely blown away by the artistic talent that our children have demonstrated through the wonderful artwork at our Art Exhibition. I hope you managed to get in to see it. The variety of styles and media used made for a wonderful display of the talents our children have. It was lovely to have the local Early Childhood Centres and Kindy also displaying their work. These future Greenhithe students also have produced some lovely artwork.

PTA Flavours Of Home Cookbook

I was very lucky to have been invited to the launch of our cookbook. I want to say a huge thank you to the PTA team involved in this project. I bought a stack as my Christmas presents to take back to the UK for the holidays! I also want to thank our sponsors. These amazing people have ensured that more of the money from each sale goes straight back to the children of our school.

Enrolments

It’s lovely to see the children visiting and starting school with us. We are filling our existing classes rapidly! If you have a child who will start with us during term 3 or 4 this year, please contact the school as soon as possible. Enrolment forms are available on the school website. If you have friends who may also have children starting with us, please encourage them to get in touch (09-4139838 or [email protected]).  The earlier we have the information about who is joining us, the easier recruiting the best teachers for our school is.

Please also let the office know if you have a child starting in term 1 or 2 next year!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ngā mihi

Community Connections

Greenhithe is a MITEY School

At Greenhithe School we are mentally healthy and feel a sense of belonging when we feel respected, valued and heard. Ideas and well being are valued, ensuring that everyone feels supported and appreciated.

Time is taken to build and nurture relationships.

Mathex-style competition at ASHS

A group of eager mathematicians from Year 6 recently attended a Mathex-style competition at ASHS. The competition was attended by schools in our Community of Learning. The three teams displayed great collaboration and energy in answering the challenging maths questions. Well done to Chelsea, Ayden, Jungmin, Nuvee, Chloe, Yiger, Cathy, Tane, Cillian, Nicole, Rayden, and Sean.
Thank you for all of the entries for our Greenhithe School Maths in Nature – Photography Competition. All entries will be exhibited at our school art exhibition.

Well done to the winners of the competition, Doris Zhang and Rocco Slade.

From the Art Exhibition

Thank you for coming to our art exhibition. It was great to see you all celebrate the wonderful pieces of art throughout our school. What amazing talents we have! Here is a sample of the arts if you did not get a chance to view it.

Our local Kindergarten students also shared their creations with us too. Thank you, for sharing Greenhithe, Miniland and Happy Hive.

Thank you to the team of teachers who also made this art exhibition possible.

Greenhithe PTA

The Greenhithe School PTA have been very busy over the past few months working on the ‘Flavours of Home’ Cookbook.  Thank you to all the families who have contributed; the recipes are just yum!  Launch and pre-orders will be happening later in Term 3 so watch out for our communications.

Term 2 saw very successful Neon Discos, Pre-Loved Uniform Sales, Cross Country Sausages and Iceblocks and a popular Pizza Lunch.  Thanks for supporting these activities and to the parents who volunteered time to help.

Term 3 will be a very busy one with not only the cookbook but also Math-athon and our parent only activity ‘Beats by Bingo’.  An event held in the school hall which will bring out the competitor in us all!

Fundraising this year has gone to support the cover for the sandpit, the basketball hoops, and will go to tidy up the road area and fence on Isobel Road and the roll out of the new literacy curriculum. We meet monthly on a weekday evening to discuss all things related to school life, provide a forum for community feedback, and fundraise for additional school resources. Our goal is to continue to grow and nurture the great positive community we have within the school and wider Greenhithe.
Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to come and participate. All of these wonderful initiatives need community support, so please reach out via our email ([email protected]) to find out more!
