Principal’s News

Dear parents,

Our PRIDE values of Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Diligence and Excellence are very important to us at school. The students who have been awarded these PRIDE certificates this week are: Brody Watts, Michael Paterson, Liam Palen,Yiger Han,Lukah Lopesi Jackson, George Hou, Lucas Li and Nate Akkasatethang.

SchoolDocs

Our leadership team and the Board has been working with SchoolDocs to create a website for our school policies. We are excited to announce that the site is now live and available to our school community.  This gives our parent community access to the full range of school policies.

The school works with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and align with the National Education and Learning Priorities. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.

SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team.

We invite you to visit the site at https://greenhithe.schooldocs.co.nz (note that there’s no “www.”). Our username is “greenhithe” and password is “pride”.

The link can be found at the bottom of our home page or in the ‘Our School’ tab on the school website.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Change in Weather and Uniforms

The weather is definitely becoming more autumnal and I would like to make some reminders about our uniform requirements please.

  • Any long sleeved top worn under the school shirt MUST BE NAVY BLUE AND PLAIN.
  • Only school fleeces should be worn over the top, any other jumpers, hoodies etc will not be allowed and the children asked to remove them.
  • Jeans are not suitable for school. Any shorts, skorts, skirts and trousers must be plain and navy blue.
  • School raincoats can be purchased as well.

Our children look very smart in their uniform, please ensure your child’s uniform meets our requirements.

Community Connections

Greenhithe is a MITEY School

At Greenhithe School we are mentally healthy and feel a sense of belonging when we feel respected, valued and heard. Ideas and well being are valued, ensuring that everyone feels supported and appreciated.

Time is taken to build and nurture relationships.

Celebrating Mana Ūkaipō  Through Koru Artwork

Mana Ūkaipō: We go together! We belong and feel connected to others in our environment.

In Rooms 1 and 20 students teamed up to create beautiful Koru Artwork. Students worked side by side, drawing and colouring koru designs to show their connections with each other. Their artwork reflects not just creativity but also the spirit of teamwork and togetherness. To showcase their collaborative effort, they also made a video explaining Mana Ūkaipō, which means “We go together! We belong and feel connected to others in our environment.

Whole School Art Competition

The book is going to be called Flavours From Home.

Our P.T.A. are looking for pictures of food you eat at home. Think about some of the special things your whanau cooks. What do you eat at special times and celebrations in your house?

The best pictures will be featured in the Greenhithe School Cook Book, which will be full of recipes from our school families.

Draw your pictures of food on a plate; it can be any size.

Make the pictures colourful and bright!

You can decorate the plate too!

Deliver your pictures to Mrs. Sam with your name on.

You have until the middle of next term to get your entries in.

Enjoy being creative to support our community.

Greenhithe PTA

The Greenhithe School PTA are busy in planning mode for 2024 and would like to share some of the exciting activities we will be running.

As per our previous years we will run the Second-Hand Uniform sale and Pizza lunches, support the school athletics days and Cross Country with iceblocks and sausages.  There will be a School Disco, a Movie Night held in the hall which we will run a survey that the children can vote for the movie they want to watch, Quiz night for the parents, Summer Festival will go ahead in December as well. Over the course of this year the PTA will be organising a Greenhithe School cookbook and asking families for their favourite recipes plus we will have a Maths-a-thon to round out the curriculum during Term 3-4.

We meet monthly on a weekday evening to discuss all things related to school life, provide a forum for community feedback, and fundraise for additional school resources. Our ultimate goal is to continue to grow and nurture the great positive community we have within the school and wider Greenhithe.

Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to come and participate. All of these wonderful initiatives need community support, so please reach out via our email ([email protected]) to find out more!

Pop along to the next meeting on 7th May in the school staffroom.
